Compliance that’s “holistic, smarter, broader and stronger” is the hoped-for result of the IRS Tax Exempt and Government Entities (TE/GE) unit’s plan for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024. In its recently released FY 2024 Program Letter, TE/GE stressed that its priorities are aligned with those of the IRS’s FY 2023-2031 Strategic Operating Plan. That plan contains five goals: 1) better taxpayer experience, 2) faster issue resolution, 3) smarter enforcement, 4) advanced technology and analytics, and 5) empowered employees. As part of the tech goal, for example, TE/GE will release a digital Form 13909 that will enable individuals to report noncompliant tax-exempt organizations using any electronic device.
