National Tax Security Awareness Week is here. As part of an effort to help reduce identity theft, the IRS and its partners will sponsor a week of press releases, social media posts and other communications. The week runs from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1, and is timed to make people aware of fraud threats during the holiday shopping season and in anticipation of tax season. In the meantime, the IRS encourages taxpayers to enroll in the Identity Protection PIN program (for details: https://bit.ly/47urCDZ). The IRS is also calling attention to its Identity Theft Tax Refund Fraud Information Sharing and Analysis Center, which gathers information from tax professionals about emerging scams.
