It’s full speed ahead for tax season as the IRS began accepting returns on Jan. 24. Before we prepare your return, here are some reminders that could save time and trouble. Have all required tax documents, such as Forms 1099 and W-2. Bring any stimulus payment and advance Child Tax Credit statements you’ve received and any IRS letters that refer to the payments. The IRS warns taxpayers to avoid common filing mistakes that may delay processing: Provide all Social Security numbers (SSN) accurately and ensure the names on your return match the names on SSN cards.
