With the tax filing season winding down in roughly three weeks, the IRS has a reminder for some taxpayers. Those who are unable to file by the due date, April 15, can avoid failure-to-file penalties by requesting an automatic extension to Oct. 15. The request must be made no later than April 15, by filing Form 4868. Be aware, the extension is only for extra time to FILE. Any tax that is owed must still be paid by April 15, to avoid possible failure-to-pay penalties. If you owe tax, you’ll need to estimate the amount and pay it by the regular due date of your return. You may request an extension and make your payment at the same time. Here are the details: https://bit.ly/43wJsVH. Contact us with any questions. © 2024
