Tax filing season is underway. If you’ve filed your federal tax return and are wondering when you might receive your refund, check out the IRS’s enhanced Where’s My Refund? online tool. It provides taxpayers with three key pieces of information: confirmation that the IRS received your return, notice of approval of the tax refund and the issue date of the refund. The IRS recently improved the tool by creating seamless access on mobile devices using the IRS2Go mobile app. To use the online tool, a taxpayer must enter a Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
