How Does the Taxpayer Bill of Rights Protect Taxpayers?

As the 2024 tax season approaches, taxpayers should know they’re protected by a Taxpayer Bill of Rights. It provides the right to: 1) be informed, 2) quality service, 3) pay no more than the correct amount of tax, 4) challenge the IRS’s position and be heard, 5) appeal an IRS decision in an independent forum, 6) finality, or knowing how much time you have to challenge the IRS and how much time it has to audit a return, 7) privacy, 8) confidentiality, 9) retain representation and 10) a fair and just tax system. Essentially, the rights codify what taxpayers should expect if they need to work with the IRS on a tax matter. For more information: https://bit.ly/47AHvrO Contact us with questions © 2024
