SIMPLE IRA Contribution Limits Increase in 2026

Good news for small business employees with a Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees (SIMPLE) retirement account: Contribution limits are going up. In 2026, the general contribution limit for SIMPLEs will increase to $17,000, up from $16,500 for 2025, enabling employees to save more money for retirement. Under SECURE 2.0, some SIMPLEs will have an even higher limit of $18,100 for 2026, compared to $17,600 for 2025. These higher limits will apply to plans from employers with 25 or fewer employees or to larger employers that choose to offer the higher limits and provide increased employer contributions.
