Tax returns are generally due on April 15, or the next business day if the 15th falls on a weekend or legal holiday. But does that mean a taxpayer can just drop a return into a mailbox on April 15th? Possibly, but issues can occur. If a return is waylaid after it’s mailed, it may not be considered “timely filed” and late filing fees could be imposed. The IRS defines a timely filed return as one that’s in a properly addressed envelope with enough postage and postmarked by the due date. To avoid the risk of penalties, document the postmark or use certified or registered mail or an authorized delivery service. Here’s more: https://bit.ly/4kkQlBF. Contact us with any questions. © 2025
