New IRS Authentication Platform For Nonprofits

Tax-exempt organizations take note: Form 990-N (e-Postcard) filers need to use the IRS’s new authentication platform. In general, nonprofits are eligible to file the annual information return 990-N if they have annual gross receipts of $50,000 or less. Regardless of how they previously logged in, these nonprofits now have three options: 1) Sign in with their active IRS username, 2) sign in with their existing ID.me account or 3) create a new ID.me account. To create an ID.me account, you’ll need to provide an email address and participate in multifactor authentication. For filers of Form 990 and Form 990-EZ, the filing process is unchanged.
