FAFSA ApplicationAn IRS tool makes completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form easier. In a tax tip, the IRS is advising college students and their families that, when filling out the FAFSA form, they can use the IRS Data Retrieval (IDR) tool to obtain tax information necessary to complete the form. To use the IDR tool, applicants must provide alternative documentation of their income, which usually consists of pay stubs or most recently filed tax returns. This information must be submitted to the student’s federal loan servicer after the student completes the online IDR tool application. Read IRS Tax Tip 2019-82 here.
