Correspondence with the IRS Isn’t Always Bad

Have you ever received a letter from the IRS? Some people may get a little panicky from unexpected IRS attention. They might even tuck an unopened letter into a drawer, hoping it will go away. But not all IRS correspondence is scary. It might be a notice of a change to your account. Generally, IRS letters are about specific issues and come with instructions. Whatever you do, don’t ignore a letter or throw it away. The best response is to read the letter and take the appropriate actions. In some cases all you’ll need to do is file it away so you can refer to it when you file your next return. Still have questions?
